FANUC, a partner on the drive and control side, equips these machines, depending upon specifications, with the CNC series 0 i-D and 32 i.

Hembrug, one of the pioneers of this technology, has now almost exclusively specialised in fast ultra-precision hard turning technology and offers machines up to work piece diameters of 1500 mm. Hard and high-precision Hembrug's hard lathes achieve accuracies in the micron range Hard turning has established itself as an economical alternative to circular grinding. Result: A competitive range of HSC CNC lathes equipped with state of the art FANUC components for outstanding performance and durability. Solution: Utilising leading-edge tool materials and equipped with an impressive array of features, such as hydrostatic bearings and FANUC’s high-end CNC controllers and servo motors, Hembrug’s HSC CNC lathes deliver impeccable results with accuracy down to the nanometre. I purchased it from Boeing in 2001 and have cleaned it up but done nothing else with it since.ĭutch tool maker, Hembrug, develop world-first CNC lathes using FANUC Oi-D CNCs Task: To develop pioneering HSC CNC lathes with the extreme stability required for machining hardened steels. This is a super-precision toolroom lathe made in Holland by NV Hembrug in approx. I will upload picks when I get it into the workshop. This lathe is a Hembrug Ergonomic. I have been that nervous about rust I was up twice between 1:47 am and 6:00 am to make sure it wasn't rusting. Now I am just waiting for the tenant to wake up and I will back the trailer and lathe into the workshop to be unloaded with my high lift pallet jack. I did all this with the lathe still in the trailer.

I figured that once it heated up lathe, this would both dry up the water and thin the mineral oil to run into every little crack and crevace that I couldn't reach. Once the entire lathe had a going over, I rolled out an old oil heater, and placed it under the tarp.

I then took grade 0000 steel wool soaked in mineral engine oil, and any bits showing any discolouration were extremely lightly polished, then wiped with a clean rag soaked in engine oil. This freaked me out to the point of using an entire tin of WD40 to displace the water. Despite being oiled and wrapped, the shiny steel had become to get a slight red tint in some places. I was forced to remove the plastic wrap, swap the tarp for a larger dry tarp, and begin drying it off. Upon arriving home at midnight, our tenant had also blocked the workshop with his 2 cars so I couldn't roll it in to the workshop.

Add to this the roads had been salted previously and it made for both a slippery and slow ride, plus rust inducing to boot.ĭespite oiling the lathe before loading it and wrapping in plastic, then a tarp, a great deal of water made it on the lathe in the form of mist kicked up from the tyres. I left in beautiful weather, with the sun shining, and once I had the lathe loaded, it started to pour rain. I have travelled 1350 km in a round trip. Well, I just completed the 18 hour drive to pick up the lathe. (gees, it is hard to write in a other language when nearly falling asleep but it is 2 hours early of my average bed time so i dont want to go yet.) ( I hope you guys still can make something of this soup) The cast is solid becouse the mounthing of those parts are very accurate so they will be drilled or milled after the casting of the gearbox housing. The holes voor axles and levers are not casted. As with most machinery it is often verry clear if there has been something at some place. To translate this to your lathe, look for holes or other evidence of missing parts. If you watch some pictures at the internet of AI Hembrug lathes you wil notiche clearly the place where the levers are mounted on other models, but the is no "empty" hole. I think this will be the the same story with your lathe. It seems they are missing parts but it is depending on the model and/or year of production. There are also versions which dont have a start/stop lever on the carriage so they seems to miss a extra spindle and there excist a lot of difference in start/stop bottons or levers. But the early 1000 rpm model is missing the both top levers and other models dont have that wide range of thread cutting and missing both handles at the underside of the gearbox housing. 2 above to change speed and 2 under for a verry wide range of thread cutting. Some of them seems to mis some parts.įor example, the late 4000 rpm model has 4 levers. They have the same basic cast which is the bed and gearbox housing i one piece. I think it's verry campareble with the Dutch AI Hembrug lathes.
